that Billy Preston was an actor once?

Before you Motown crazed know-it-all's go crazy, let me tell you that Preston IS a Motowner....

and he had at least 28 recordings released under his name. This includes his duets with the late great Syreeta Wright.

Anyway ... 10 year old Billy Preston was playing with gospel great Mahalia Jackson one day at his church... and a film producer who was there to see Jackson was sitting in the audience; the producer was so impressed with Preston that he cast Billy as W.C. Handy in the film 'St. Louis Blues.'
