Opening night of the California Ballroom
Saturday 12th March 1960
Well folks, here it is. The night it all began.
The Ballroom was opened by
Mayor Ald. L Palmer and
Mrs Palmer, Mayoress.
E.W. Green was the proprietor and built the hall himself with the help of family and friends.
The evening was for charity and all proceeds went to the Old People Welfare Association. You will notice that the "Songstress" was Edwina Green. Edwina was Edwin Green's daughter. She was obviously able to turn her hand to many things. A couple of years after this, we have her acting as driver and roadie to the Rhett Stoller group who were managed by Edwin.
