A quote in the Luton News
for November says: The decor at the California is undergoing a change, with a modernisation of the foyer, better panelling, and "psychedelic" lighting. "We never close," said Mrs. E. W. Green. "Many teenagers even come from London to our dances - probably around 300 and 400 on Saturday nights. Our customers are very loyal and stable." According to Carl Edwardes who was DJ in 1968, the "Psychedelic lighting" consisted of a dozen or so coloured strip lights on the ceiling. Now funnily enough, I seem to remember those. |
